The owner is super helpful and has fair rates for rentals.

Bikes are not maintained (Barley shift) and one of the bikes only had 10 psi in the rear tire. I feel like if your paying $ to rent a bike it should function properly. When we confronted the staff about it the said, "well it gets ridden 3 to 4 times a day." They offer 4 hr to full day rentals so that was about the dumbest excuse I've ever heard . You can tell that the day staff knows nothing about bikes or have any interest in the sport.

I expected a lot more from the only bike shop in the town that is home to the best trail system in the Upper Midwest. They have no inventory of consumable parts like tires. You'll have to drive all the way into Brainerd for that. The rentals are poorly maintained. The fork on the rental I got had stanchions that were worn through the finish which is a sign that the bath oil has never been refreshed. The rear wheel hub had a ton of play. Don't rely on this place if there is any chance you will have problems out on the trail.

Was visiting the area from SC and the owner helped me out with a chain and some adjustments right at closing time. Seemed like a good down to earth bike shop.

Renter beware. They appeared to have only entry-level bikes, which matches the price, so that's okay. But.... 1) The sales associates (friendly teens) didn't appear to be well trained in helping us find and fit a bike, but that's okay because we know enough to self-help. 2) The bike we really wanted needed obvious maintenance (the seat wouldn't adjust), but their mechanic was out for the day--minor bummer. 3) The one we ended up with needed major maintenance on the trail (brakes and rear derailleur) in order to make it usable--thankfully I could do that on the trail--really NOT okay! 4) After the ride, they were very empathetic, but offered no other customer service, which is really another training issue for the teens. In the future, I'll plan to try a different place that maintains their inventory and trains their people, which will probably cost more, but that's okay.
